Spanish Fort blanks Blount, Foley survives a shootout with Baker, and St. Michael earns its first victory of the season in an eventful Friday night across the Gulf Coast.

MOBILE, Ala. — Week 5 of the 2026 Alabama high school football season delivered a little bit of everything across Mobile and Baldwin counties on Friday, September 18.

From dominant defensive performances to high-scoring battles, several programs made statements as the regular season continued.

Spanish Fort shut out Blount in the Southbound Sports Game of the Week, Foley and Baker combined for 93 points, and St. Michael broke into the win column with a thrilling victory over St. Paul’s Episcopal.

Spanish Fort Shuts Out Blount in Southbound Game of the Week

Spanish Fort continued its strong defensive stretch with a 16-0 road victory over Blount in Eight Mile.

The Toros recorded their second consecutive shutout after defeating Baldwin County 28-0 the previous week. Spanish Fort has now surrendered just six combined points over its last three games.

The victory improved Spanish Fort to 4-1 overall and extended its winning streak to three games.

Blount, meanwhile, dropped its second consecutive contest following last week’s narrow overtime defeat against Gulf Shores.

Foley Outlasts Baker in 93-Point Shootout

One of Friday night’s most entertaining matchups took place between Foley and Baker.

The Lions emerged with a 48-45 victory over the Hornets in a game that featured a combined 93 points.

The three-point margin made it one of the closest contests in the area, with Foley securing the victory in a high-scoring battle.

St. Michael Breaks Through Against St. Paul’s

After opening the season with three consecutive losses, St. Michael earned its first victory of 2026 with a 39-35 win over St. Paul’s Episcopal.

The Cardinals entered Friday looking to turn the corner following narrow defeats against UMS-Wright and McGill-Toolen.

St. Michael’s offense delivered 39 points to secure the four-point victory and provide momentum heading into next week’s Southbound Sports Game of the Week against Bayside Academy.

Bayside Academy Continues Its Unbeaten Start

Bayside Academy delivered one of the night’s most dominant performances, defeating Northside Methodist Academy 71-0.

The Admirals improved to 4-0 and recorded their second consecutive shutout.

Bayside has now scored 175 points over its last three games while allowing just 13, setting up an intriguing matchup against St. Michael on September 25.

Daphne, Saraland and Gulf Shores Roll

Several other area programs delivered convincing victories Friday night.

Daphne defeated Davidson 49-7, continuing its momentum following a 22-19 victory over Baker the previous week.

Saraland rolled past Baldwin County 63-14, while Gulf Shores shut out Murphy 54-0.

McGill-Toolen also recorded a shutout, defeating Faith Academy 38-0.

Theodore opened the week’s action Thursday with a 42-0 victory over Elberta.

Fairhope and Orange Beach Secure Convincing Wins

Fairhope defeated Robertsdale 32-6 in a Baldwin County matchup, while Orange Beach rolled past B.C. Rain 43-6.

Both teams continued their seasons with decisive victories as the schedule moves toward October.

With another week of football in the books, attention now shifts to September 25.

Southbound Sports will head to Daphne for an Eastern Shore matchup between unbeaten Bayside Academy and St. Michael Catholic.

The Admirals enter the contest at 4-0 following their 71-0 victory over Northside Methodist, while the Cardinals bring momentum from their first win of the season.

With several other area programs continuing their pursuit of postseason positioning, the coming weeks will be important across Mobile and Baldwin counties.
